Fort Henry Trail (LBL Kentucky/Tennessee)

Made it out again this weekend for a nice day hike in Tennessee. I just recently discovered the Henry Fort trail system which also connects to the North South trail of Land Between the Lakes. The scenery is mixed between farm plots, pine woods, and creek crossings. This trail system offers up to 30 miles of hiking starting from the South Welcome Station in Tennessee. Today I only did about 5 miles of the trail starting on the Telegraph section and looping back to the trailhead but with warmer weather on the way I hope to hike longer sections each weekend. On top of hiking I did manage to sneak in some geocaching on the Kentucky side of LBL. The days are only so long and the sun was only going to offer so much light to enjoy the day.

Land Between the Lakes (Short Hike)

All week I was excited for sunny 50 degree weather this Saturday and instead we end up with cold cloudy conditions. Oh well I decided to go visit LBL (Land Between the Lakes) and hit a small section of the Canal Loop. The trail head is at Kentucky Lake Drive and the section I did was about 3 miles total which is nothing to brag about. Today must have been trail runners day because that is all I saw and no mountain bikers even though there were fresh mountain bike trails. Upon starting my hike I did witness one runner trip over a limb and face plant (I felt really bad).  My back has been hurting for a few days and my hiking buddy has a jacked up knee so no one is excited about hiking at the moment. Regardless I did take some pictures...

Honker Lake Trail, Golden Pond Kentucky

Today I headed off to Honker Lake (LBL, Kentucky) in the Golden Pond area which also has Energy Lake and Hematite lake nearby. I will save those trips for next time but they are very close by and offer their own scenic views. So back to Honker Lake, I recently geocached here but due to flooding I couldnt walk the whole trail. Today I did the whole thing which is roughly 4 miles and perfect for a mind cleansing. So on to the photos...
